Admissions
Entry Requirements
At RD American School, we use a selective admissions process to create a community where every student thrives. Beyond academics, we take time to understand your child's social maturity, learning readiness, English proficiency, and how our educational approach aligns with your family's hopes and values. We're here to support and guide you at every step of this important journey.
Applications are Open!
We accept applications on a rolling basis throughout the year, and students may join us at any time, subject to meeting admissions requirements and space availability.
For January 2026, we are currently enrolling students in Grades 1-5.
As a growing institution dedicated to our founding families, we are expanding grade levels strategically:
Middle School (Grades 6-8): August 2026
High School (Grades 9-10): August 2027
Upper High School (Grades 11-12): Following years

Visa & Residency Requirements

To join us, students must have a valid Dependent Pass, Long Term Visit Pass, Immigration Exemption Order, or Permanent Residency in Singapore. We currently do not enrol students on Student Pass.

Singaporean citizens (aged 6 or older by either birth or registration) also need to receive Compulsory Education Exemption from the Ministry of Education. Please declare this information at the time of application and our Admissions Team will submit the necessary applications to MOE before a place at RD American School has been formally offered.

Enrolled families must immediately inform the Admissions Team of any changes in their nationality or residency status.

Language Requirements

While we welcome students with a range of language backgrounds, applicants must demonstrate at least a foundational level of English to ensure they can engage with the curriculum effectively and participate meaningfully in all aspects of school life.

Learning Support Requirements

We welcome students with learning differences; however, our program may not be suitable for children with learning challenges. Admission is evaluated case by case, ensuring that our school can provide the necessary support while prioritizing the child’s best interests.

Admission may be declined if:
- The student is unlikely to benefit from our academic program
- Based on academic or behavioral records, your child is unlikely to strive in our school community
- The required accommodations or support exceed the school’s available resources
- Incomplete or inaccurate information about the student’s needs is provided during the admissions process

If, after enrollment, it becomes evident that we cannot adequately support a student, we will work closely with the family to recommend a more suitable educational environment.

Admission Criteria
Age & Grade Placement
RD American School aims to determine the most suitable grade placement for each student based on their age and academic, social, and emotional development in accordance with policy guidelines.

Enrolled students will be placed in the grade level appropriate to their age as of 1 September.

Admission Requirements
Entrance Assessment
As part of the admissions process, we meet with each family to assess the student’s readiness to engage positively with peers and the curriculum. This includes age-appropriate evaluations of listening, speaking, reading, writing skills, and social maturity.

While we welcome students from diverse language backgrounds, applicants should demonstrate a foundational level of English to participate meaningfully in school life.

We also take time to discuss educational philosophies and expectations with parents or guardians to ensure strong alignment between the family’s goals and the school’s values.

Following receipt of an application, we invite families to meet with us, either in person or virtually. Some applicants may be asked to complete an English language assessment to determine if we can provide the language support needed.
